We’re over halfway there! Continuing our count up to our new model, we have the fourth shoulder rest produced by Kun in 1999.

Our personal favourite, the Kun Bravo is preferred by professional violinists worldwide for its sound quality, beautiful appearance and incredible comfort.

We developed the Bravo shoulder rest to meet customer demand for a wooden rest from Kun. The Bravo’s base is made from bent hardwood laminates oriented to provide the precise combination of strength and flexibility a shoulder rest requires. These bases are hand-made in Italy from European curly maple to reflect the back of a fine violin.

Kun Seven feature reveal #4 - The unique design of the Seven will allow your instrument to resonate freely, enhancing the sound in both volume and clarity. Any pressure or tension created while you play is absorbed by the central connection point of the shoulder rest. The streamlined bridge is also incredibly light while the weight of the pad is supported by the shoulder rather than the violin.

Next up in the count up to our new model, we have the third shoulder rest produced by Kun in 1993.

Based on the Kun Original, the Collapsible shoulder rest has end members that fold down for easy storage in your case!

Due to it’s popularity with young students, the Collapsible was designated as the rest that would come in a variety of colours for smaller sizes. The Junior Collapsibles come in four radiant colours; Razzle Dazzle, Atomic Green, Blue Moon and Papaya. The Kun Mini comes in the

Kun Seven feature reveal #3 - The pad and bridge are separable using a genius cam lever mechanism, allowing you to store the parts in your case. In certain cases the bridge can also be safely left on the violin, so you never have to readjust the position on your instrument!

As many of you will have seen in our recent post with @stringsmagazine . We are launching a new model this Fall which is unlike anything we’ve ever released before - the Kun Seven!

Next month at the @thenammshow , we will be showing it to the public for the first time. If you are attending, be sure to come by our booth (9136) to see it in action.

The Kun Seven is so named because it is the seventh model in our catalogue of violin and viola shoulder rests. To celebrate the launch we’re counting down (or counting up!) the six unique rests that have brought us to this point.

1 - The Kun Original.

First patented in 1972, the Kun Original began it’s life as a hand-made prototype invented by Joseph Kun; who brought it with him to Ottawa from Czechia in 1968.

The practical, uncomplicated design of the shoulder rest, with its simple adjusting mechanisms has made it the favourite of amateur and professional players alike.

50 years on from the first iteration of the Original as we know it today, we are proud and excited to be bringing something equally inventive and revolutionary to the market.
